The North 24 Parganas Zilla Parishad, established on June 26, 1986, following the bifurcation of the erstwhile 24 Parganas
district, serves as the apex body of the three-tier Panchayati Raj system in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
Headquartered in Barasat, the district's administrative center, the Zilla Parishad oversees 22 Panchayat Samitis and 199 Gram
Panchayats, facilitating decentralized governance and rural development.The district spans approximately 4,094 square kilometers
and, as per the 2011 census, has a population of over 10 million, making it the most populous district in West Bengal.
Geographically, it is bordered by Nadia district to the north, South 24 Parganas to the south, Bangladesh to the east, and the
Hooghly River and Kolkata to the west.The Zilla Parishad is committed to holistic development, focusing on infrastructure,
